Yoga for Life
A Conversation with Colleen Saidman Yee & Eileen Fisher

When is 5 minutes of yoga enough?

World-renowned yoga teacher Colleen Saidman Yee refers to this kind of practice as “starting from where you are.” She says you’ll feel the benefits whether you’re on a yoga mat or sitting in a chair.

Join us for this unique evening event as Colleen demonstrates simple enlivening practices, and she and Eileen Fisher discuss their shared passion about mindfulness and the body. They will also touch on Colleen’s powerful book Yoga for Life which follows her journey as she grows from a rebellious young woman with a dangerous heroin habit to a globe-trotting fashion model and then to the “First Lady of Yoga.”

Colleen Saidman Yee, christened by the New York Times as the “First Lady” of yoga, is the founder of Yoga Shanti, with locations in New York City and Westhampton Beach. She and her husband, prominent yoga teacher Rodney Yee, lead popular teacher trainings at Yoga Shanti and throughout the world. She has been featured in Vanity Fair, O: The Oprah Magazine, New York magazine, Yoga Journal, and many others. An international fashion model since 1980, Colleen also lived in Calcutta where she worked with Mother Theresa at the Home for the Dying and Destitute. Together with Rodney, Colleen created and directs the Urban Zen’s Integrative Yoga Therapist program, Donna Karan’s worldwide initiative that has been transforming care in hospitals around the world since 2010. The author of Yoga for Life: A Journey to Inner Peace and Freedom, she has appeared in dozens of Gaiam yoga DVDs, and is a contributor to Gaia Online Yoga.

Eileen Fisher, Founder and Chairwoman of EILEEN FISHER, INC., has been on a decades-long journey of awakening to her purpose, exploring the mind-body connection, and striving to live more consciously. Her commitment to lifelong learning and alignment with what truly matters have led her to create a unique company culture of collaboration and caring and to spearhead initiatives that empower others and create a better, more sustainable world.

In 2017, Parsons New School of Design honored Eileen at their annual gala for her work in sustainability, and she was selected to join the Steering Committee for New York State’s Inaugural Council on Women and Girls. Launched by Governor Andrew Cuomo, the committee was formed to ensure that government policies and programs protect women’s rights and equality advancement in the state. Eileen was presented the Force for Good Award by the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) in February 2016. She is a 2012 inductee into the Social Venture Network Hall of Fame.
