Pick up a latte and a snack and head to Irvington’s famous Matthiessen Park for a short walk. Downriver, you’ll see the Manhattan skyline and to your right, the new Tappan Zee Bridge with its modern upward-sweeping cables.

The Old Croton Aqueduct trail runs straight through Irvington near the top of Main Street. A walk along this wide tree-lined path in either direction immerses you in the great outdoors and takes you past some of Irvington’s most beautiful homes and side roads.

Make it a point to wander along the water’s edge while you are here. This is one of the widest points of the Hudson, with stunning views of the cliffs of the Palisades and the Manhattan skyline in one direction.

Main Street Irvington stretches for 9 blocks and runs uphill away from the river. Get in some cardio with a brisk walk — or take a more leisurely stroll, relaxing along the way on one of the many benches that line the street.
